Marbella markets: Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday street markets
Marbella does not have one single weekly market. The municipality currently runs a recurring pattern across several districts, which is much more useful to understand than simply saying “Marbella has a market”.

The official municipal Commerce information lists:
- Monday: Marbella.
- Thursday: San Pedro Alcántara.
- Friday: Las Chapas.
- Saturday: Nueva Andalucía.
Tourism Marbella currently gives 09:00–14:00 for the Marbella and San Pedro street markets, and the municipal Commerce service confirms the wider weekly pattern.
For the whole coast, see the Costa del Sol markets guide.
Monday in Marbella
The Monday market is the main recurring street market in Marbella proper.
Tourism Marbella currently lists it at the Las Albarizas fairground area, with opening from 09:00 to 14:00.
This is the most straightforward choice if you are staying in central Marbella and want a traditional weekly market without travelling to another district.
Expect a general street-market format rather than a specialist food market.
Thursday in San Pedro Alcántara
San Pedro has its own weekly market on Thursday.
Tourism Marbella currently lists it at Calle Jorge Guillén, also from 09:00 to 14:00.
This is especially useful if you are staying west of Marbella, around San Pedro or nearby urbanisations, because there is little reason to cross the whole municipality just to attend the Monday market.
Treat San Pedro as its own destination day rather than as an extension of central Marbella.
Friday in Las Chapas
The municipality also lists a Friday market in Las Chapas.
The useful planning point here is geography: Las Chapas is east of Marbella centre, so this market makes more sense for visitors staying in Elviria, Las Chapas or nearby coastal areas.
Do not assume that every “Marbella market” is convenient from every hotel or apartment in the municipality.
Saturday in Nueva Andalucía
Saturday belongs to Nueva Andalucía.
This is one of the most useful market days for visitors staying around Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía or nearby residential areas.
The municipality has long managed this as a separate recurring market.
Because Saturday can also be busy around Puerto Banús and surrounding roads, think about parking before arriving.
What kind of market should you expect?
These are weekly street markets rather than fixed indoor food halls.
Vendor mix can change, but this type of market commonly includes clothing, accessories, household items, gifts and mixed general merchandise.
Avoid travelling specifically for one seller unless you have current confirmation.
For everyday food shopping, Marbella also has municipal indoor markets, which are a different experience.
Marbella Municipal Market
If what you actually want is fresh produce and everyday food shopping, the municipal market is often more relevant than a weekly street market.
Tourism Marbella currently lists the Mercado Municipal de Marbella from Monday to Saturday, except public holidays, from 08:00 to 15:00.
That makes it a much better fit for:
- fruit and vegetables;
- fish and meat;
- everyday food shopping;
- self-catering stays;
- visitors who want a food-market experience rather than general merchandise.
Do not confuse “market” and “street market” when planning.
San Pedro Municipal Market
San Pedro also has its own municipal market.
If you are based in San Pedro and looking for food rather than a weekly street-market atmosphere, check the municipal market before travelling elsewhere.
The same principle applies throughout Marbella: choose the market type that matches your goal.
Monthly and craft markets
Marbella also has craft and ecological-market activity.
The Commerce Department has historically listed craft markets around Puerto Banús and San Pedro, plus ecological markets in specific districts.
These are not the same as the Monday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday municipal street-market pattern.
Because seasonal, craft and ecological events can change more often, check the current municipal agenda before making a special journey for one of them.
Which day is best?
Choose Monday if you are staying in central Marbella.
Choose Thursday if you are in San Pedro.
Choose Friday if you are around Las Chapas or Elviria.
Choose Saturday if you are around Nueva Andalucía or Puerto Banús.
The “best” day is therefore mainly about where you are staying.
Parking
Parking can be the least enjoyable part of a market visit.
Street-market days increase local movement around the venue, so do not expect the closest parking to be available.
If you are driving, use the Marbella parking guide and allow extra time.
For visitors staying nearby, taxi or walking may be easier.
Market plus destination
A weekly market works better when it is integrated into a wider day.
Examples:
- Monday market + central Marbella + lunch.
- Thursday market + San Pedro old centre or promenade.
- Friday market + Elviria/Las Chapas beach area.
- Saturday market + Nueva Andalucía or Puerto Banús.
That way the day still works if the market is smaller or faster to visit than expected.
Families
Markets can work well with children when the visit remains flexible.
The main issues are heat, crowds, waiting and how long adults want to browse.
An earlier visit usually works better in warmer months.
Accessibility
Temporary stalls and busy aisles can change the practical accessibility of a market.
If wheelchair access or another mobility need is important, check the exact venue before travelling.
The indoor municipal markets may sometimes be easier to plan than temporary street-market layouts.
Cash and card
Payment methods vary by stall.
Carry a backup payment method rather than assuming every vendor accepts cards.
For broader payment advice, see the Costa del Sol cash and cards guide.
Weather
These are outdoor street markets.
Rain, strong wind or extreme heat can make the visit less enjoyable and may affect operations.
Check the forecast if the market is the main reason for your journey.
Common mistakes
Avoid:
- assuming Marbella has only one market;
- travelling from San Pedro to central Marbella when Thursday would suit you better;
- confusing street markets with municipal food markets;
- assuming a craft or ecological event is weekly;
- arriving by car without a parking plan;
- relying on one old blog for schedule information.
The municipality’s own tourism and Commerce pages are the safest starting point.
Before you go
Check:
- the day;
- the exact district;
- whether you want a street market or food market;
- current municipal information;
- parking or transport.
That is usually enough.
